Seeing Stars in Dixie was a play preformed at the South Baldwin Community Theatre. We went to this play Thursday night.
The time was May, 1956, during the filming of the movie Raintree County on location in Natchez, Mississippi. All of the action took place in Clemmie's Tea Room located in dowtown Natchez. The cast included Clemmie, a widowed proprietor of a small tea room. Tootie, a take-charge kind of person in any crowd. Glease, a man more comfortable in the company of woman. JoBeth, a beauty-queen wannabe prone to diasters. Majorie, a socially prominent lady-about town.
The theatre is run by volunteers. The cast is madeup of volunteers. The price is right, $15 adults for reserved seating.
There was a break between acts. The audience then was able to stretch and enjoy coffee, water or punch with cookies or crackers. A donation was welcome
We enjoyed the play and will go to the February and March plays when they are showing.
